Cirque du Soleil’s Iris at The Kodak Theater in Los Angeles

This new production from Cirque du Soleil is a lyrical, fanciful, kinetic foray into the seventh art. Bringing together dance, acrobatics, live video, filmed sequences and animation, the show takes spectators on a fantastic voyage through the history of cinema and its genres, taking them into the heart of the movie-making process. From illustration to animation, black and white to colour, silent films to talkies, fixed shots to swooping camera movements, spectators witness the poetic construction/deconstruction of this art as an object and as a way of transcending reality.  Music by Danny Elfman. When planning Los Angeles sightseeing, make sure to book this hot ticket. Great seats available for as little as $43. For more information visit the Cirque Du Soleil website

The Bazaar by Jose Andres at The SLS Hotel Beverly Hills

Not just dinner, but an event.  That’s The Bazaar by Jose Andres at The SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills.  Make sure to arrive before your reservation and let the mixologist at the bar create a personalized drink based on a handful of your preferences.  The restaurant has two rooms for dining, each with their own personality.  Everything on the menu is fantastic. We let the waitress pick her favorites from the modern and traditional sides of the menu.  All were great, including the garlic shrimp, the olive platter, the lemon artichokes, the guacamole and tomato wrapped in jicama, and the duck fat spun in cotton candy.  Save room for dessert—a hostess will pack up your table and transfer you to
