A Love Letter to Los Angeles and Beverly Hills
Of course, this is actually sending love to the entire world right now during these unprecedented times. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and sadly, we all won the lottery.
Tourism in Los Angeles has taken a hit several times in recent years, whether it’s the nearby fires, flight bans, or an earthquake or two. But there’s never been anything quite like CoVID-19. Hospitality industries have taken the early brunt of this, whether you work with airlines, travel agencies, tourism, nightclubs, hotels, music venues, restaurants, or bars. But truly, it has trickled down to each and every one of us.
Hats off to those still working in deliveries, the medical field (nurses should ALWAYS be put on a pedestal), grocery clerks and those stocking our shelves, police and fire departments, scientists, and (some) local mayors and governors for leading the way during a true pandemic.
Glitterati Tours temporarily closed operations on March 14th. We have 10 employees that are currently unemployed. Not only did they work as guides, but they also worked in the entertainment field as comedians, actors, models, singers, and choreographers. They also worked in gyms and theme parks. It’s all shut down. Yes, we’re all concerned about paychecks and paying the bills, but we’re also a family and we’ll somehow take care of one another.
This brings me back to my love letter to my community. Over the last decade, we’ve grown to know the amazing folks in hospitality at every hotel in the city. This includes the valets, front desks, and the concierge teams. We’ve been fortunate to hit almost every restaurant and bar in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills (it’s our job) and we miss these incredible individuals that truly showed passion for their jobs each and every day. We wish you all the best and much love during these times.
As I said recently to a friend, “if we still have feet at the end of all this, we’ll land on ‘em.”
We will remain optimistic, and continue our research on our cities within a city, so we can hit the ground running, and continue providing our award winning service when the dark clouds lift. We’re not going anywhere. In fact, some have questioned why we continue to post photos and social media shots of a city on shutdown? It gives us great pleasure to showcase the city we love, and gives future visitors an opportunity to learn more about things to do and famous landmarks. And who doesn’t want to live vicariously right now about traveling to exciting destinations and breathing in culture, community and friendly faces.
Stay healthy world, and we look forward to seeing you on the other side of the chaos.
