Where Are The Fires in California?

First, thank you to the dozens of past guests, and the domestic and international travel agents that have reached out to check on our safety during the fires.  Fortunately, we are safe, and our heart goes out to those in the affected areas.  No major fires have hit the general Hollywood or Beverly Hills areas.  When one sees the news, it can look like the whole state is up in flames. This time of year is typically fire season in California.  It’s when the brush in the hills and mountains are at their driest, and when the Santa Ana winds can kick up.  In fact, last year at about this same time (and into December) California had the Skirball Fire,

Holiday Events in Beverly Hills and Hollywood

Since Christmas decorations started popping up before Halloween, we thought it might be a good time to let locals and visitors know about a handful of upcoming holiday events in Beverly Hills and Hollywood: Beverly Hills BOLD Holidays kick off Thursday, November 15th with the Rodeo Drive party and lighting displays throughout the city.  BOLD Holidays will also include evening shopping on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as art installations, entertainment and much more. The Grove in Los Angeles will have their 17th Annual Tree Lighting celebration on November 18th to kick off the holiday season.  Look for a special performance by the CBS “A Home for the Holidays.”  There will also be a snowfall (sans Mother Nature), fireworks, and Santa’s grand arrival. This

Beverly Hills and Los Angeles Hotels

It’s never too early to book your Beverly Hills and Los Angeles hotels for the upcoming holidays.  Hotels…as well as studio tours, restaurants, private sightseeing tours, museums, etc…will surely book up during late December and early January.  This can be especially true depending on the two teams that will be playing The Rose Bowl Game in Pasadena on New Years Day.  A few years back, we had Texas vs. Alabama, and the city was full to capacity with red and orange jerseys. Los Angeles is huge, so how do you pick your hotel?  Look at your itinerary and see what your goals are during your stay.  Some guests are literally just in and out of town for a convention or

Day of the Dead Festivities in Los Angeles

Halloween festivities in Los Angeles may be wrapping up after the West Hollywood Carnaval parade this evening, October 31st, but Dia De Los Muertos (The Day of the Dead), has yet to be fully celebrated. People move to our city from all over, and it allows us to celebrate and experience cultures from all around the world right here in the heart of Los Angeles. Dia De Los Muertos is one example of how our city honors and celebrates all cultures and traditions – and they definitely celebrate it well! One of the biggest and most well-known traditions for Dia De Los Muertos is the elaborate altars families put together for their ancestors. Throughout the city there are multiple places

Visit Los Angeles and Enjoy Diversity

If you’re an international guest planning a trip to America, keep your plans. Yes, social media and news networks are painting our entire country as chaos in the streets.  Like anywhere else in the world, you’ll find a handful of really bad eggs whose goal is to cause disruption and spread hatred.  As most returning visitors from the states will tell you, America is a very friendly country with lots of really kind folks. Los Angeles is a perfect example.  We are a true melting pot of diverse communities within a few dozen square miles. Little Armenia, Chinatown, Korea Town, the heavy populated Jewish communities of Pico and Hancock Park, Little Tokyo, the Persian community of Beverly Hills, Little Ethiopia, gay-friendly and

Arrive Hotel Palm Springs

The tagline for Arrive Hotel Palm Springs is, “A Neighborhood Hotel.” It’s so true.  We’ve done a post on Arrive before, but wanted to update a new one.  First off, it’s one of our favorite getaways, and they’ve had some recent updates to their venue. The desert community of Palm Springs is about a 2-hour drive from the general Hollywood or Beverly Hills area. It’s always been the perfect weekend trip or 2nd home for celebrities escaping the city-life of Los Angeles.  So much so, that there’s even celebrity homes tours there, much like we’ve got here in Beverly Hills with Glitterati Tours. When we can, we head to Arrive Hotel Palm Springs for some much needed R & R.  Even if

West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval 2018

Since 1987, the West Hollywood Carnaval has been the culmination of the many Halloween festivities throughout the month of October.  After all, it attracts hundreds of thousands of festive attendees every Halloween night year after year, and that number continues to grow annually. The carnaval or “parade” takes place on Wednesday, October 31st between 6PM-11PM along Santa Monica Blvd.  This one-mile road closure stretches between La Cienega Boulevard on the east and Doheny Drive on the west. This is an adult only party.  Some of the costumes may be too risqué or show too much skin for young eyes.  Plus, there’s areas that bottleneck with foot traffic where you are shoulder to shoulder with people and barely inching along.  It’s not
