Can I Picnic at The Hollywood Bowl? Yes, but read more below for specifics:
August is winding down, which means you’ve already missed tons of great shows at The Hollywood Bowl this summer season. However, the upcoming lineup of shows in September and October brings in many of the Bowl’s crowd favorites.
Look for the Fireworks Finale with Earth, Wind and Fire, The Sound of Music Sing-A-Long, and Maestro of the Movies: The Music of John Williams. Other HUGE shows included Mozart Under the Stars, Barry Manilow with Orchestra, Gladys Knight and The Kingdom Choir, Heart: Love Alive Tour, Ben Harper with Neneh Cherry, An American in Paris, Café Tacvba, Mary J. Blige and Nas, along with so much more happening through October.
Not to worry, for when the Bowl season ends, you can follow the LA Philharmonic right over to their winter home at The Walt Disney Concert Hall in Downtown Los Angeles.
When heading to the Bowl, make it extra special and pack a picnic. Both inside and outside of the venue, there are literally thousands of great spots to dine and drink. From benches and picnic tables, to grassy spots where you can throw down a blanket and pour yourself a glass of wine. There’s some great sneaky spots inside the venue up the escalators. If you’re not familiar with the property, just ask the ushers. Don’t want to pack up a big spread? The Bowl has you covered with restaurants, table side box dining, concession booths and wine stores.
Definitely make sure to check your special show night. The majority of the time, guests are allowed to bring in their goods, however, there are “leased” nights, or “special house rules apply” nights, where nothing can get past the entrance. We learned the hard way one night and had to swig down 5 bottles of expensive wine in the parking lot. Not horrible, but also not the leisurely sipping that we all desired.
Enjoy your night under the stars from all of us at Glitterati Tours Los Angeles!
