Clive Davis throws his annual party (He’s been doing this for over 30 years) the night before the Grammy telecast at The Beverly Hilton Hotel.  This was the same party in 2009 that Chris Brown and Rihanna attended together, and made headlines after they left.  This years A-list attendees include Jimmy Iovine, Whitney Houston, Jennifer Hudson, Sean Puffy Combs, Cee Lo Green, Tony Bennett, Quincy Jones, Miley Cyrus, Diana Krall, and Elvis Costello. Ace Hotel to open in 2013 in the old United Artists Building

The beautiful Spanish Gothic style United Artists Building in Downtown L.A. will become an Ace Hotel, which has a scheduled opening for the summer in 2013.  The original building was built in 1927 to show the films of United Artists, the production company started by superstars, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Charlie Chaplin and D.W. Griffith.  If you’ve never been to an ACE Hotel, they are super hip and stylish.  The finished hotel should have about 180 rooms, a pool, a bar, a restaurant, and of course, a 1,600 seat theater.  This venue is walking distance to our convention center, Staples Center, The Nokia Theater and L.A. Live.  Great to see the continued gentrification of our downtown.

Tours of Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills with Designer Showcase Maison de Luxe

Whenever we conduct tours of Beverly Hills, one of our most popular stops is Greystone Mansion.  This stunning 46,000 sq. ft. home is on 18.5 acres in the heart of prime 90210 real estate.  As a Beverly Hills park, it’s usually open for the public to walk its grounds and admire the Welsh slate and limestone structure. Good news, bad news…it’s closed to the general public, BUT it’s open as a designer show house.  This is a rare occasion to see the interior of the home, and a chance to view the work of 20 professional designers.  If this 1928 estate looks familiar, it’s because you’ve seen it in dozens and dozens of Hollywood’s biggest films and television shows. Hollywood Time Capsule at Sunset and Vine

While conducting Hollywood Tours, we drive by locations hundreds of times.  Until you actually walk some of these streets, you don’t notice the little gems.  Came across one of Hollywood’s time capsules this afternoon at the corner of Sunset & Vine.  (Enlarged photo may display upside-down on some systems).

The World Famous intersection of Hollywood and Vine

The most famous intersection in Hollywood is the corner of Hollywood & Vine.  Made famous in the 1920’s by the radio and film industries, this plot of land is now hotter than ever.  Within a one block radius, you’ve got the hip W Hollywood Hotel with Drai’s Nightclub and Delphine Restaurant, The Redbury Hotel with Cleo Restaurant, Katsuya Hollywood, Capitol Records, The Lexington Social House, Beso Restaurant, The Pantages Theatre, Wood & Vine Restaurant, Dillon’s Irish Pub, Off Vine Restaurant, Frolic Room, Hemingways Lounge, and The Arclight Hollywood Theaters with The Cinerama Dome.  Plus, you’ve got a metro station right under the W Hotel, and the Walk of Fame runs both North/South and West/East on the corner. If you’re there on a
