Free Things To Do In Los Angeles and Beverly Hills

Los Angeles and its neighboring community of Beverly Hills doesn’t have to be expensive.  In fact, there’s tons of free things to do in Los Angeles.

Free Things to Do in Los Angeles

Runyon Canyon in the Hollywood Hills

Our weather allows for an average of 284 sunny days a year.  Even if it’s not the perfect amount of sunshine, the remaining days should be pretty much clear of rain, since our average annual rainfall hovers around 15 inches.  So the first thing on our “free” list includes exploring the great outdoors.  Places like Runyon Canyon and Griffith Park are great starting locations for a hike in the hills above Hollywood.

Grauman's Chinese Theater

While in Griffith Park, visit the observatory.  It’s one of the most visited sites here in L.A.  Admission is free, however there is a small parking fee, and they do charge for special shows within the venue.

Both The Getty Center in Brentwood, and The Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades near Malibu, are also free to the public.  There is a per vehicle charge for parking though.  Speaking of museums, access to famous pieces of public art such as Levitated Mass, and Urban Lights for photo opportunities are free, as are the outdoor pools of tar and the excavation pit outside of the La Brea Tar Pits down at LACMA.

The walk of fame, and Grauman’s Chinese Theatre courtyard (famous for the handprints and footprints of celebrities) is completely free, as are the ceremonies for walk of fame inductees.  These ceremonies are always a guaranteed opportunity for celebrity sightings.

Stroll the Santa Monica Pier, The 3rd Street Promenade, and the Venice Boardwalk.  Again, nominal parking fees apply.

The Grove

The Grove and The Original Farmers Market in Hollywood have no admission fees, and of course, window shopping on Rodeo Drive has no charge.

Visit the “LA INFO” tab on our Glitterati Tours of Beverly Hills website, for links to many of these locations and so much more.
