On a side note, it’s not too late to shop for the holidays around Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Beverly Hills.  In Hollywood we’ve got the east and west side of Melrose for both upscale boutique stores and vintage clothing, and Fairfax between Melrose and 3rd for the younger hip-hop and skateboarder brands.  In Beverly Hills, check out Robertson between 3rd and Beverly, and of course Rodeo Drive with big names like Harry Winston, Louis Vuitton, Tory Burch, Saint Laurent, Guess, Prada, Versace, Gucci and Coach.  Santa Monica has the 3rd Street Promenade, Main Street, Montana Avenue and The Santa Monica Place mall.  Other malls in the general area include The Beverly Center and The Grove (next to The Original Farmer’s Market and CBS Studios).  The Grove has numerous places to dine and dozens of shops.  It allows for fantastic people watching and gives visitors the opportunity to soak up a little bit of the L.A. lifestyle. It’s also very walkable to Museum Square with LACMA, The La Brea Tarpits, and The Petersen Automotive Museum (a must for car lovers).
