Glitterati Tours Accepts Bitcoin

Glitterati Tours accepts Bitcoin beginning December 16th, 2013, for tours of Los Angeles, Hollywood and Beverly Hills.  Bitcoin isn’t for everyone, in fact, we plan on trying out this latest innovative payment network on a trial basis, along with the more traditional forms of payment including, Visa, Discover, American Express, Master Card and Cash payments.  If it works out, and guests enjoy having this additional cutting-edge currency option, we hope to ride it into the future.  Notable merchants already include Reddit, Virgin Galactic, OkCupid, and WordPress, with additional vendors coming on board daily.

What is Bitcoin? Bitcoin uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority or banks; managing transactions and the issuing of bitcoins is carried out collectively by the network. Bitcoin is open-source; its design is public, nobody owns or controls Bitcoin and everyone can take part.  Through many of its unique properties, Bitcoin allows exciting uses that could not be covered by any previous payment system.

Integral to Bitcoin is a public transaction ledger and log known as the blockchain, which shows who owns how many bitcoins currently and records the participants in all prior transactions as well. By keeping a record of all transactions, the blockchain prevents double-spending (copying one bitcoin and spending it in multiple places) because the record shows that once a bitcoin has been spent, the previous owner no longer controls it. The blockchain is maintained not by a central body but by a distributed network of computers that run a program to solve crytographic puzzles relating to information in the blockchain.
