Griffith Park and Observatory in Los Angeles

At over 4200 acres, Griffith Park in Los Angeles is the largest municipal park with urban wilderness in the United States.  It also happens to be one of the most visited destinations for travelers to the Los Angeles area.

Within the park, a visitor can enjoy the numerous hiking trails as well as the following attractions:

Autry National Center: The Autry’s collection of more than 500,000 pieces of art and artifacts includes the Southwest Museum of the American Indian Collection, one of the largest and most significant in the United States.

Greek Theatre: Los Angeles’ premiere outdoor theatre, is nestled in the picturesque tree-enclosed setting of Griffith Park. This award-winning theatre is one of Los Angeles’ most historic entertainment venues and has played host to some of the biggest names in entertainment, from pop to classical, reggae to rock.

Griffith Observatory: Southern California’s gateway to the cosmos! Visitors can look through telescopes, explore exhibits, see live shows in the Samuel Oschin Planetarium, and enjoy spectacular views of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign.

Southern Railroad: The miniature train ride has served the public in Griffith Park since 1948. Youngsters of all ages enjoy the experience of riding the FREEDOM TRAIN or the COLONEL GRIFFITH on the Griffith Park Southern Railroad.
