Knott’s Scary Farm in Buena Park

Knott’s Berry Farm is a living legend here in the Los Angeles area, going strong as one of the most popular destinations since 1920.  Usually known year-round for their thrill rides, stage shows, boysenberries and chicken dinners—it all changes come mid-September through Halloween!

For decades, the farm has transformed itself this time of year to Knott’s Scary Farm. Many of us can remember back to the 80’s (they started their Halloween nights as early as ’73) when the park decked itself out in spooky themes. I actually took a mutual friend visiting from Sweden to Knott’s.  She had no idea about our Halloween festivities here in the states, or even scary movies.  She was frozen in fear.  Again, it was the 80’s, and she’s probably never forgiven me.

Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, was always the headliner.  Unfortunately, Elvira stopped the live stage show last year.

That being said, it’s still the premiere scary party with over 160 acres of fright zones.  Look for mazes like Dark Ride, Dark Entities, The Depths, Paranormal Inc., Pumpkin Eater, Shadow Lands, The Red Barn, Special Ops: Infected, and Trick or Treat: Lights Out.

Scare Zones include CarnEVIL, Ghost Town Streets, Forsaken Lake, and The Hollow.

Rides throughout the park are Supreme Scream, Sol Spin, La Revolucion, Pony Express and Silver Bullet.

Experiences and live stage shows round out this annual attraction.

Tickets can be pre-bought for as low as $44.  There’s also the Fright and Fast Lane Pass for priority access to attractions, and Scary Farm Hotel Packages that allow you to play late and stay just steps away from the park.  As they say, “Nightmares are guaranteed.”

Buena Park is just about an hour from the Hollywood or Beverly Hills area.  Allow a little extra time during rush-hour, or on the busiest nights closer to Halloween.  If planning on staying in LA and traveling down south, check out our Glitterati Tours LA Info page for local hotels.
