L.A. County Fair in Pomona, California

As a kid growing up in the Pomona/LaVerne area, this time of year meant two things – going back to school, and the L.A. County Fair.  The tough school part was always softened as our teachers gave every single student a free ticket to attend the fair that was always provided by the venue.

It’s that time of year again.  The L.A. County Fair has been wowing folks since 1922.  A lot has changed over the years, but the fair still has something for all age groups.  A few attractions this year include The Millard Sheets Art Center Presents Alt 66, Haunted 66, eSports Gaming World, Retro City Arcade, The Mother Road (Exploring all 8 states tied to Route 66), and Auto Alley with a variety of classic cars on display.

There’s plenty of educational activities for adults and kids alike.  A popular exhibit this year is The Farm at Fairplex.  It teaches all about the agricultural business and provides information on such things as healthy food possibilities.  It might be a good idea to attend this exhibit right after eating cotton candy, ice-cream sandwiches, onion rings and a deep-fried Snickers Bar.

There’s also horse racing that can be viewed and wagered on at Top of the Park.  A live-feed from the Los Alamitos horse racing track will be on the big screens.

No fair is complete with rides.  So check out the Fun Zone for thrill rides and carnival games.
