Los Angeles is the perfectly centered city, with day trips or over-nighters to Santa Barbara, San Diego and Palm Springs all very doable. Driving distance from Los Angeles to Palm Springs is approximately 2 hours. Palm Springs has always been a popular destination this time of year for snowbirds from the Midwest and East Coast escaping the cold. Our favorite time of the year to travel from Los Angeles to Palm Springs is in the middle of summer, when temperatures soar well above 100 degrees. It’s a dry heat, and one always has access to an air-conditioned car or hotel, a cool pool, or sidewalk misters along the main corridors.
Some of our favorite hotels include The Viceroy Palm Springs, The Riviera, and The Palm Springs Spa Resort Casino…yes, there is gambling in the heart of Palm Springs! About 7 miles down the road, there is also Agua Caliente Hotel and Casino. Here, one can find their favorite card games, tons of slots, video poker, and California versions of Roulette and Craps…using cards instead of a ball or dice.
On the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs, one can also visit Morongo Casino and the wonderful Cabazon Outlets, with major outlet stores like Guess, Adidas, Puma, Reebok, Rip Curl, and Under Armour.
When in Palm Springs take the popular Palm Springs Aerial Tram, which travels 2.5 miles straight up to an elevation above 8,500 feet.
We obviously love Palm Springs, but don’t cut your time short in Los Angeles! There’s plenty to do and see in our amazing city. For information on a private tour of Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, visit Glitterati Tours.
