Staying Fit and Activities in Venice Beach

When taking a tour of Venice Beach along the boardwalk, it’s hard to avoid the funnel cakes, hotdogs, and pizza.  Eat them guilt-free, for there are dozens of ways to burn off calories in this beach front community.

First, walk down to 19th and Oceanfront Walk, and get inspiration from the bodybuilders at the world-famous Muscle Beach.  Then, enjoy the outdoor activities, such as the 17-mile bike path from Palos Verdes to Pacific Palisades, the gymnastic section with climbing ropes, parallel bars, balance beams, and ring sets.  One can also take a swim, a long walk filled with incredible people-watching, the skateboard park, basketball courts, paddle tennis courts, the skate plaza, or the boxing area with speedbag platforms.

Want to enjoy another side of Venice Beach?  Take a 15-minute walk to the local-friendly Abbot Kinney.  This area is loaded with trendy boutiques, unique coffee shops, and dining.  Two of our favorite lunch/dinner spots are Gjelina (prepare to wait for a table), and Lemonade, with their dozen or so fresh salad options daily.  If on foot, make sure to walk over the canals between Abbot Kinney and the boardwalk.
