Super Bloom at The Flower Fields

That winter chill is lingering in other parts of the country (we feel for those of you in the midwest with tons of snow and rainfall so far) – but the extra rain has done some good for us here in the normally sunny Southern California. Every spring we get to kick of the warmer weather with the beautiful poppy fields just outside our city limits. Carlsbad Ranch’s poppy fields have been a top activity for years, and with the extra rainfall this winter season, they are nothing short of spectacular this year. So spectacular that this season the fields are being referred to as the “Super Bloom.”

Super Bloom at The Flower Fields

The Flower Fields

The Super Bloom at The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch is in season and running through May 12th. The ranch is just a short drive from Los Angeles and makes for a perfect afternoon with beautiful scenery. Who doesn’t love an ocean view from rolling fields of flowers? If the views aren’t enough, the venue offers a plethora of events and activities throughout the month it is open. Think mazes, artist gardens, old car showings, and live music. Crafting days and floral arrangement classes keep you busy throughout the day! One of the best parts of this springtime gem? Throughout the month there are sunset wine tastings, and after hours music that leaves you with a perfect sunset viewing excursion! Each weekend often has a different feel – from jazz to bluegrass – the venue has live bands playing music for everyone to enjoy.

With the Super Bloom has come a super exorbitant amount of people coming through. To accommodate the surge of visitors and keep the field preserved, the ranch and City of Carlsbad have brought in a shuttle to help bring people back and forth between parking and the flowers. The cost for the shuttle is $10, but is well worth the trip! You may just get that Instagram photo of the year….
