One of our most important jobs in conducting luxury private tours of Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, is keeping up to date on the hottest, hippest restaurants and bars (as much as our paychecks will allow). Sometimes, we focus on the up-and-coming spots, because that’s what many of our guests have heard about. The problem with this approach is that we can miss a gem of a restaurant that’s been in our own backyard for decades.
The Grill on The Alley Restaurant in Beverly Hills is one of them. For years, we’ve told our many VIP’s about this spot which is just steps from Rodeo Drive, without ever trying it firsthand. That all changed the other night, and we may have found our new (old) favorite restaurant in Beverly Hills.
The Grill has been around since the 80’s. This would have been the same time that Giorgio of Beverly Hills had the front-facing building next door (now Louis Vuitton). The Grill is designed after the famous grills in NY and San Francisco that existed back in the 30’s and 40’s. You can’t help but feel that NY charm the moment you walk in the front door. We had Bill greet us, and take us to our table. This was followed-up by incredible service from their amazing team. We tried a little bit of everything, from their steaks, fresh fish, and English style prime rib with all the fixings … Yorkshire Pudding, creamed spinach, horseradish and a baked potato. Easily enough for 2 meals. For dessert, our server suggested a super rich and delicious piece of chocolate cake. Great choice!
This restaurant is walkable from great local hotels like The Beverly Wilshire, The Montage, The Waldorf Astoria and The Peninsula. Speaking of walking, it might be nice to enjoy the Golden Triangle of Beverly Hills after your lunch or dinner. Take in Rodeo Drive, Camden, Canon, and Beverly Drive to burn off some of those delicious calories.
The Grill on The Alley is located at 9560 Dayton Way, Beverly Hills, 90210. Reservations recommended: 310-276-0615. Say hello to Bill and Pamela from all of us at Glitterati Tours of Beverly Hills.
