We’re barely into the new year, and award season is officially kicking off in Los Angeles. We have back to back ceremonies throughout the city.
In just a few short hours, we have The Golden Globes, presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. This year’s ceremony will be co-hosted by Sandra Oh, and Andy Samberg. As always, look for the major players in both TV and film. Special awards this year will go to Jeff Bridges for the annual Cecil B. DeMille Award for film achievement, and Carol Burnett for the annual award for TV achievement. The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills will once again be home to this red carpet affair.
January 27th, 2019, look for The Screen Actors Guild Awards, also known as the SAG Awards.
February 2nd will see The Directors Guild Awards.
On February 10th, The 61st Annual Grammy Awards take place at The Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles.
The Writers Guild of America will present their awards on February 17th, 2019, which will be followed by the Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 23rd.
The NAACP Image Awards take place on March 30th.
The granddaddy of all award shows are of course, The Academy Awards. The Oscar nominations will be announced on January 22nd, 2019, with the actual ceremonies taking place on Sunday, February 24th at their permanent home of The Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
It’s an interesting and very exciting time in Los Angeles. While many in town are industry related folks for the awards, we also have countless guests that are travelers interested in sightseeing. Glitterati Tours can provide excellent tours, and also point out special spots where one might have the best opportunities for a very special celebrity sighting during their stay.
