For the LGBTQ and Gay-Friendly LA Visitors
Miami? New York? London? P-Town? Fire Island? San Francisco? Look no further than West Hollywood for a large concentration of gay-friendly LA bars, nightclubs and restaurants. Most are located along or near Santa Monica Boulevard. Some can be quite an eyeful, but one can rarely go wrong bringing out their friends and family to spots such as The Abbey and PUMP Lounge.
Get your cocktails, beers, sparkling waters, or sodas at spots such as these listed below. These direct links are provided as a convenience. NOTE: Some links may contain partial nudity or graphic verbiage.
Most of these spots concentrate on the bar, lounge, and nightclub scene, with dozens of other gay-friendly restaurants and establishments in the vicinity. The east side community of Silverlake also has several gay bars and nightclubs, including The Eagle Los Angeles (leather scene), and Akbar.
Downtown Los Angeles, aka DTLA, now has The Precinct, and Redline.

The Abbey West Hollywood
Nearby hotels in the West Hollywood area include The London West Hollywood Hotel, The Mondrian Hotel, The Andaz, The 1 Hotel, Sunset Marquis, Le Montrose, Le Parc Suite, Chamberlain, Le Petite Ermitage, The Grafton, and Chateau Marmont. All of these are a very short walk to the fun and engaging Santa Monica Boulevard.
A short UBER or taxi away, you’ve got the Beverly Hills properties of L’Ermitage by Viceroy, The Maybourne, The SLS Hotel, The Waldorf Astoria, The Beverly Wilshire and The Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills.
Whatever you do, don’t drink and drive. The LAPD, The West Hollywood Sheriffs and The Beverly Hills PD, patrol these areas like crazy. Proof: Think back on all those celebrity mugshots of ‘under the influence’ arrests in our communities.
